- Installing WaveForms
Step 1: Open the DMG File
Expand your downloads and open the dmg file that you have downloaded.
Step 2: Open the Drive
A drive names WaveForms should have been created on your desktop. Click on it to open.
Step 3: Drag the WaveForms Icon into Applications
In the window that opens, drag the WaveForms icon into the Applications folder icon.
This will install WaveForms in Applications.
Double click the FTDI driver icon to start the installation process.
The FTDI driver is necessary for WaveForms to recognize the Analog Discovery 2.
Depending on your security settings, you may need to go in and allow the file to be opened.
The FTDI driver installer will now open.
Follow the steps and select “Continue” again to proceed.
Read through the license agreement and select “I agree” to continue with the installation.
Click “Accept” to confirm that you accept the license agreement.
Pick the user that you want to install WaveForms for. Click “Continue”.
Click “Close” to close the installer.
Open the Applications Folder.
Double click on WaveForms to open the software.
When WaveForms first opens and you do not have an Analog Disocvery 2 connected, it will warn you that no device is connected. Go ahead and click “Okay” for now as we can still run the software in demo mode.
We can run demo mode to get a feel for the interface and capabilities of WaveForms without having a device attached.
Click on “Demo Mode” and then click “Select”.
Open the oscilloscope tool and select “Play”. You can see a square and sine wave being demonstrated.
When you plug in the Analog Discovery 2 it will appear in the Device Manager.
Select that and you are ready to go! And now that you have WaveForms installed, you can move on to calibrating your device.
